The plane was on a flight to Jamaica to aid in relief from Hurricane Melissa. Shortly after taking of from Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport the aircraft went into a rapid descent, crashing into palm trees between two houses and sliding into a man-made pond.

The cargo plane, with its left wing on fire, crashed into the roof of the Kentucky Petroleum Recycling building shortly after taking off from Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport. It then burst into a huge fireball. Multiple pieces of engine fan blades were found on runway 17R along with the main component of the #1 engine
